The traditional method of waxing includes a wax pot and a wooden spatula. The wax is heated and then removed from the pot and applied to the area being wax with a spatula. When this spatula is being dragged against the skin to apply the wax, it picks up dead skin cells along the way. When the therapist goes to get more wax the spatula will be re-dipped and those skin cells will be left in the pot of wax, ready for the next client (urgh)! This may just seem unhygienic but there is a very serious side to this issue. Where there are any hairs being removed there is the chance of causing blood spots, (tiny spots of blood that appear from where the hair was removed). If any of this blood gets on to the spatula and is then re-dipped into the wax there is a serious breach of cross contamination procedures.
Phd completely eliminates any possibility of cross contamination. This system uses a tube of wax, on to which is attached an applicator head. A new applicator head is used for every client and there is no chance of any back flow of wax back up into the tube.
